Fees and expenses

Fees:

Fees are freely settled between the firm and its client. They may be calculated in accordance with time spent, which is the most usual way to proceed, or on a contractual basis. The fees are regularly billed, every three months or every month and are payable upon receipt of the invoice.

A fees agreement may be concluded upon the opening of the file which lays down all terms and conditions of invoicing, amount of hourly rates, calculation and payment of fees.

Fees based on time spent

The partners’ time is 300 €/hour (without VAT), the associates’ time is 150 €/hour and the secretarial assistance is 80 €/hour.

Contractual fees

For rather easy files, a mere advice in business law for example, it may be agreed contractual fees with the client upon the opening of the file.

Performance fees :

They are additional fees (the French law forbids the payment of lawyers on the sole base of the outcome of the case) settled upon the opening of the file with regards to the anticipated outcome.

These results may be either the amount of sums gained from (or paid to) the adverse party or the partner, or any other beforehand-defined event. For example, in case of debt collection, the performance fees may be a percentage on the sums paid by the debtor. It is paid at the end of the file or when the client recovers the sums.

Expenses :

The costs and disbursements are not included in the fees and are to be charged to the client.

They concerned in particular travel costs (plane and railways tickets, hotel rooms, …), file costs (photocopies, telephone, proceeding taxes, process-server’s bill) and invoices from third parties (attorneys in fact in court, court surveyors, translators, …).
